That Dog From Deadpool: DOGPOOL!

Have you seen the latest " Deadpool & Wolverine" film?  and the excitement is centered around an unexpected star: Dogpool 

Portrayed by Peggy, a six-year-old pug and Chinese Crested mix from East Yorkshire, Dogpool is Wade Wilson’s new sidekick. Peggy, known for her almost hairless appearance with tufts of hair on her face and ears, and her always-out tongue, has captured everyone's attention.

Peggy’s journey to stardom is quite unique. She was adopted online at six months old in late 2018 and was the runt of her litter. Named after her owner’s great-grandmother, Peggy’s distinctive looks won her the title of "Britain’s ugliest dog" in a 2023 competition by ParrotPrint, a photography printing firm.

Despite her title, Peggy's owner, Holly Middleton, told the BBC, “Although some people find Peggy’s appearance unusual or off-putting, we see her beauty both inside and out and wouldn’t change her for anything.”

Peggy's victory led to her being noticed for a role in "Deadpool & Wolverine." She gained fame on social media, appearing on BBC Breakfast and garnering over 216k Instagram followers with her engaging content.

Ryan Reynolds discussed Peggy's casting in an Empire Magazine interview: “Peggy, who won Britain’s Ugliest Dog, felt like the perfect animal representation of Wade Wilson. What started as a minor idea grew, and Dogpool became essential to the movie.”

Peggy recently walked the red carpet in full costume with Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman and attended the UK premiere last night. Fans are eagerly anticipating Peggy’s next big role!

And just like Deadpool, who broke boundaries and redefined superhero cinema, we can redefine our own perceptions of dog breeds. Every dog, regardless of its breed, deserves the love and attention we often reserve for the most popular ones.
