Why it’s Important to Choose the Right Harness for a Beagle

Beagles are a small to medium-sized breed known for their friendly and outgoing personality. They have a compact and muscular build and are best known for their sense of smell. Beagles have an incredible ability to track scents, which makes them highly valued scent hounds. They are often used in search and rescue, detection work, and hunting. However, their incredible sense of smell can often get them in trouble! Beagles are known to wander, which is why containment is so important. Having the right harness is key to keeping your Beagle safe and secure during walks.

What sets Beagles apart is their happy-go-lucky attitude and ability to get along well with people, children, and other dogs. They are social creatures that thrive on human companionship and enjoy being part of a family. A well-fitting harness allows Beagles social interaction outside of the home while eliminating the risk of them wandering away.

Understanding a Beagle's Energy and Exercise Needs

Beagles are known for their energy and enthusiasm, so ensuring they receive enough physical activity is crucial to their overall well-being. They have moderate to high energy levels and require regular exercise to stimulate them physically and mentally. A tired Beagle is a happy Beagle, so engaging them in activities that challenge their minds and bodies is important! Additionally, Beagles are prone to obesity, so regular exercise and food control are essential to prevent future health problems.

When exercising your Beagle, aim for one hour per day. This includes brisk walks, jogging, or a run. Beagles enjoy interactive play sessions such as fetch, agility training, and engaging in scent work. Additionally, providing them opportunities to explore new environments and sniff around can satisfy their hunting instincts.

The Importance of Training a Beagle

Beagles are intelligent and curious dogs, and they can sometimes be independent and stubborn. Training is important, as it positively channels your Beagle’s energy, establishes boundaries, and promotes good behavior. A well-designed harness can be an invaluable tool for you and your Beagle.

One area where training is particularly important for Beagles is their recall. Beagles have a strong scent drive and can easily get carried away by interesting scents. Training them to respond reliably to recall commands can help keep them safe and prevent them from wandering off on a scent trail. Using a well-fitted harness, such as the Joyride Harness, can provide better control and prevent them from choking or slipping out of their collar if they start following their nose.

By using a suitable harness, Beagle owners can take comfort in knowing their dog is secure and unlikely to break free and run away. Through positive and patient training and the right harness, you can build a strong bond with your Beagle and set them up for a lifetime of obedience and happiness.

What is the Best Beagle Harness?

For a muscular and stubborn breed, the best Beagle harness is one that is comfortable and secure. Beagles come in various sizes, so it's important to find a harness that offers adjustable straps to ensure a secure and customized fit. The harness should be snug enough to prevent your Beagle from slipping out but not too tight to restrict their movement or breathing. A fully adjustable harness will help you get a proper fit and help make the harness escape-proof.

We created our Joyride Harness with Beagles in mind. Beagles are active dogs, and their harness should be able to withstand their energy and exploratory nature. Our harnesses are made of durable materials that can withstand many Beagle adventures through the underbrush.

Our durable harnesses also have a revolutionary three-ring design that stops pulling in its tracks! So no matter what scent your Beagle catches, you can help train them to walk properly in our revolutionary no-pull harness.

The other perk of Joyride Harness for Beagle owners is the durable built-in handle. This gives you the option to quickly grab your pup and keep them close. So whether you need to help carry your senior dog up the steps or need to hold back your young pup from a squirrel, you get an extra level of security for every adventure with your best friend.

Great for my beagle!

My beagle is a slippery escape artist, following that hound dog nose. I was terrified to take him on our city streets and in busy parking lots. The Joyride harness has been a blessing!

Joyride Harness

We ordered two Fall Plaid color Joyride Harnesses (size S and M) for our beagles and we love them :) Super easy to adjust and put on and off with just one click! I like it has reflective stitching and a front part on the chest. Our doggies love it!

GREAT PRODUCT!

Our little beagle is a handful! He is a puller! I believe he even developed a really bad cherry eye due to his aggressive pulling on leash. This harness is a lifesaver. He looks comfortable, we can guide him without pulling on his neck. We had purchased another one where you have to put his legs in first and that was a headache. We purchased an expensive Kong one and had to cut it because he pulled his leg out and was stuck. This is so easy to put on and we all love it! Thank you so much!

The perfect harness for the perfect Rescue

This is the perfect harness for our very active Rescued beagle Criquette. I chose this harness because she is a natural hunter and a portion of the proceeds go to rescue.

Great deal!

We purchased a medium Joy ride harness for our 30 pound beagle mix and are amazed by how simple it is to put on and take off. It's comfortable for our dog and helps with his pulling. I will definitely be getting one for all my dogs. I was also impressed that they reached out to be sure I received it and wanted to answer any questions that I may have. Recommended...5 stars
