Siberian Huskies are active, fun-loving dogs who make the perfect companion for the right family. Huskies are a popular breed thanks to their outgoing personalities and striking appearance. They get along well with children and other dogs and aren’t typically standoffish with strangers.

Huskies are immediately recognizable thanks to their erect ears, plush coats, and bright, almond-shaped eyes. In fact, they are one of the most popular dog breeds with blue eyes. They’re also recognizable for their “singing.” While Huskies don’t bark much, they are talkative, and you can expect them to howl, moan, and whine to get your attention.

As a northern breed, Sibes were originally bred as companions and sled dogs by the Chukchi people in northeastern Asia. Because of their history, Huskies still enjoy running and love spending time in the cold and snow. These dogs are an ideal companion for winter adventures!

Size and Weight

Huskies are a medium-sized breed of dog. They are compact and built for speed and endurance. According to the AKC, the breed standard for Siberian Huskies is a height between 21 and 23.5 inches for males and between 20 and 22 inches for females. Males generally weigh between 45 and 60 pounds, and females between 35 and 50 pounds. Of course, some huskies will fall outside the breed standard.

Energy Level and Exercise Requirements

Because Huskies were bred as sled dogs, they are an active breed with a high energy level.

They need plenty of exercise to keep them happy and healthy. While frequent walks are a great way to spend time with your husky and let him or her explore, they are a breed that needs to run. However, they should only be let off leash in a secure area because they are known for escaping and taking off.

Not only are Huskies the Houdinis of the dog world, but they are also notably stubborn. This means that when it comes to walking and training, control and security are very important. For most Sibe owners, the best and safest way to walk their Husky is with a harness.

What is the Best Husky Harness?

For a stubborn and athletic breed like Hukskies, the best harness for a Husky is one that is escape-proof. While they are not particularly large dogs, they are willful and known for escaping, so you need a highly-adjustable dog harness that will give you a proper fit.

Huskies are natural pullers, so to combat this, you need an effective no-pull harness. At Joyride Harness, we created our harness with Huskies in mind. Our escape-proof harness has a three-ring design to prevent pulling. When you attach a standard leash to one of the side rings, it will prevent your Husky from pulling forward. You can also use a double-ended leash attached to two rings to give you even further control if needed.

The other benefit of Joyride Harness for smart, active Huskies is our built-in handle. When you select a handled harness for your Husky, it gives you the option to quickly grab your dog. This gives you extra control if you’re trying to stop your pup from chasing after a squirrel. When it comes to this outgoing and spirited breed, it’s very important that your Husky’s harness gives you complete control.

And the best part? Our heavy-duty harnesses are durable and easy to wash, which means they can withstand even the most adventurous Husky. We also incorporate reflective material into our harnesses for increased visibility during nighttime adventures!

What Size Harness Should I Buy for a Husky?

Most adult Huskies will fit best in our large dog harness, which is suitable for dogs between 40 and 60 pounds. However, smaller female Huskies may find the medium a better fit. For the best harness for Husky puppies, you can utilize our size chart to find the best fit for them at their current size.

Safe investment.

My Husky Zeus is super comfy BUT SAFE in his Joyride Harness. We use the matching seatbelt attachment sold by Joyride. Zeusy is a safe and happy Husky in the vehicles with his mom & dad. We LOVE the blue plaid colors. Tons of compliments, how it matches his eye color AND our fluffy, fur baby stays safe in the car!

Great harness for an active dog

We have a young husky. This harness fits perfectly and has generous sizing adjustments that should work great as he grows. The harness is easy on and off, but he can't pull out of it. The handle is perfect for helping lift in and out of the car. The ring options are perfect and I like to have the one on the back for hiking. We also use the car safety hook-up; that's worked great.

Great harness

Easy to adjust. Easy to put on and take off. My husky can escape most other harnesses. So far so good! I like that it has options where you can attach the lead. Strong Velcro attachment on the front closure. Seems comfortable.

I have a Siberian Husky that is 5 years old. She has always slipped out of other harnesses. This Joyride harness is amazing and she can’t slip out!! My daughter and I can walk her without worrying and the handle is helpful to keep her close if we have to. Thank you so much!! Having fun with our fur baby!💖

Love it!

My husky hates anything I put on him even his collar but this is the first harness that is so easy without a big fuss. He walks really good with it without pulling.
