Because Pit Bulls encompass several different types of breeds, their size and weight can vary. Staffordshire Bull Terriers, for instance, are a small to medium breed with a height ranging from 14-16 inches and a weight range of 24-80 pounds. American Staffordshire Terriers (interchangeable with American Pit Bull Terrier in the US) are also medium-sized dogs with a height ranging from 17-19 inches and a weight range of 40-70 pounds. Of course, since many dogs labeled as Pit Bulls are mixed breeds, their size and weight can fall outside of these ranges.

Energy Level and Exercise Requirements

Pit Bulls are classified as terriers, which means feisty and energetic go hand-in-hand with these breeds. They are high-energy dogs who require regular exercise and playtime. What Size Harness Should I Buy for a Pitbull?

Most of our customers with adult Pitbulls and Pit Mixes purchase large or XL dog harnesses for their dogs. Our large size is suitable for dogs between 40 and 60 pounds while our XL is suitable for dogs between 60 and 85 pounds. However, for dogs like Pitbulls who have wider chests, we recommend using our size chart to go by girth. If your dog has a wide chest or shoulders and is between sizes, we recommend sizing up for the best fit.

Love the harness

I bought a harness for my pittie after my MIL referred me. She has a German Shepherd/Rot mix. Her harness has held up against her pulling and against her not liking other dogs. So I figured it would be secure for my pittie-he loves all people and especially dogs so he does pull to try to greet them haha. I feel secure in knowing it fits him well, doesn’t cause any issues and is secure. 

My dog came from a home where leashes and certainly harnesses were not used. So he was actually afraid of them. Now he is all wags when his harness and leash are grabbed because it means a walk.

perfect! my pittie is only 56 pounds and not your average big and beefy pure pit bull but he sure knows how to pull you like crazy! I’ve fallen in the process and have a few bruises here and there lol but ever since we got his joyride harness it is so much easier to control him and I also know he’s not straining his neck or choking himself which is the most important part. Love this harness and leash

I rescued (she really rescued me) Fergie last year. She is a pit mix. Like us all, She came with a few issues. I have gone through many harnesses and leashes this past year trying to find one that works for her. I’m happy to say, I have finally found that with Joyride. I think the fit makes her feel more confident and it makes me feel like I have more control while walking.
